Cantabile now supports creating bindings to/from the background rack.
How to Use
There's nothing terribly complicated about this change - the background rack now simply appears as a new object in the source or target object of a binding:
Once selected all of the usual binding points for a rack are available:
Tip: Although the above example shows the Background Rack as a target object, it's also available as a source bindable object.
Uses
I'll be interested to see how the Cantabile's clever community of user's ends up using this, but one example might be switching states on the background rack.
For example, suppose you have a set of global bindings configured in the background rack that's used across most of your songs. But let's say one or two songs don't need those bindings.
You could configure two groups of bindings - one for bindings that used everywhere and one for bindings that should be disabled for some songs. Then configure two states on the background rack where one state disables the second group of bindings.
You can then use this new binding point to set the select the state on the background rack that's suitable for that song
This is a bit of a contrived example but might give you some ideas for other ways this could be used. Post in the comments if you come up with other interesting ideas for how to use this.
